Frank Mallard
Geraldton 1945 – Ellenbrook 2019

2018 Ellenbrook Citizen and Senior Citizen of the Year
2019 West Australian Senior Citizen of the Year

Stolen Generation, Ex-Serviceman and a Yamatji Elder, Frank was a proud Ambassador for the recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Servicemen and Servicewomen and their contribution to the Australian Defence Forces.

Frank served in the Australian Army Engineers from 1962 to 1985, with active roles in war-torn Borneo and Vietnam; then served in the Army Reserves from 1986 to 1999, to include a UN peace keeping post in Bosnia. Upon his return from active duty, he was rejected by the RSL due to his heritage; this spurred Frank to promote the military service of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders within Veterans’ Affairs and the wider community.

Over the years, Frank was involved in numerous charitable activities, most notably as Chairman of the Voice of the Voiceless Ministry. The VoV has carried out considerable international charity projects, including the “Clean Water Project” in Nigeria. More recently, Frank became a Director of the Amurri Divine Mercy Foundation, currently undertaking a hospital project in Nigeria.

Throughout his life, Frank had always been heavily involved in the local community, as an active volunteer for the RSL, serving on the Board at St. Helena’s Catholic Primary School, and most notably for being involved in the Parish Council that built this very church we are gathered in today.

We will always remember, honour and respect Frank’s abnegation and dedication of his time and resources to the help of others, the less fortunate and the neglected.

Rest in Peace
Lest We Forget
